Some information is collected automatically when you use the website, through cookies and similar technologies, as described below and in our Cookie Policy. Other personal information is collected only when you provide it, as described below. This policy also describes the information we hold about our clients and the people we pay.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you contact us, ask to be notified, or request a license or translation, we collect the information you provide, typically your name, your email address, and your message or request. A translation request also includes details of the song, its lyrics and your translation, and your electronic signature on the agreement.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the website, cookies, pixels, and similar technologies collect information such as the pages you visit, the site that referred you, your device and browser, your approximate location, and your IP address, as described in our Cookie Policy. If a page fails to work properly, the website sends us a technical error report with the page’s address and details of the error, which we use only to fix the problem.
Clients and payees. If you are a songwriter, artist, label, publisher, or other client of the Company, or we pay you royalties or other amounts, we also hold the information needed to manage that relationship: your contact and account details, the works and recordings we manage for you, royalty and accounting records, and the payment and tax details (such as bank account details and tax forms) collected through our payment provider.
2. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your messages and requests;
- send the email updates you have asked to receive;
- prepare, sign, and keep agreements;
- administer, license, and account for the music we manage, pay royalties and other amounts, and meet our tax reporting obligations;
- operate, secure, measure, and improve the website;
- with our advertising partners, show you relevant advertising, subject to Your Privacy Choices below; and
- comply with the law, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect the rights and safety of the Company and others.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information for money. We share it only as follows:
- With service providers that handle it on our behalf and only for our purposes, including Vercel (website hosting), Resend (delivering messages sent through our forms), Mailchimp (email updates), DocuSign (electronic signatures), and Trolley (royalty and other payments, and tax forms).
- With our analytics and advertising partners, Google, Meta, LinkedIn, and TikTok, through cookies and pixels on the website, as described below and in our Cookie Policy.
- Within the Company, among its divisions and affiliates.
- When we are required to by law or by court or governmental order, or when needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company or others.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business.
- With your consent.
4. Email Updates
The Company will not send you e-mails you have not agreed to receive. We may occasionally send you an email for specific purposes, such as receiving our email newsletters/updates. Each e-mail newsletter or bulletin contains instructions on discontinuing receipt of the newsletter or bulletin, and you may unsubscribe at any time.
5. Third-Party Sites
This website contains links to other websites, including those wholly or partially owned by the Company. The Company is not responsible for the privacy policies, terms and conditions, general practices, or content of such websites. Such responsibility belongs to the website’s owner.
6. Personal Information Request
Please get in touch with us if you have submitted personal information to this website and would like to review, update, or delete it from our records. You may also write to us at Watershed Music Group LLC, 3839 McKinney Ave, Suite 155 #2805, Dallas, TX 75204.
7. Cookies & Other Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and other technologies to track the use of the Website. We allow third parties to place such technologies on the Website for analytics and other purposes. Cookies are files that web servers place on your device. Using cookies on the Website allows you to enjoy more seamless visits and more accurately measure your behavior on the Website. You can learn more about the cookies and web beacons we use and how you can disable cookies and web beacons in our Cookie Policy.
Our analytics and advertising partners are Google, Meta, LinkedIn, and TikTok. Their cookies, pixels, and similar technologies collect information such as the pages you visit, your device and browser, and your IP address. We use this information to measure the Website and, with these partners, to show you relevant advertising on other sites. Each partner handles this information under its own privacy policy.
8. Your Privacy Choices
Sharing information collected by advertising cookies and pixels with our advertising partners may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, and similar state laws. You may opt out at any time by selecting “Your Privacy Choices” at the bottom of any page of the Website and turning off Targeting cookies. We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser as a request to opt out.
Where the law of your location requires your consent first, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are not set until you accept them, and you may withdraw your consent at any time in the same way.
You may also ask to know, access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by using the Personal Information Request process above. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to receive a copy of your information in a portable format, to object to or restrict certain uses of it, and to withdraw any consent you have given. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, you may also complain to your local data protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
To protect your information, we will verify your request by confirming details we already hold, such as your access to the email address you used with us. You may authorize an agent to make a request on your behalf; we may ask the agent for proof of that authority and ask you to confirm your identity. If we decline your request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.
9. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. We keep messages sent through our forms as long as needed to respond and follow up; email update subscriptions until you unsubscribe; signed agreements, and royalty, payment, and tax records, for as long as the relationship continues and afterward as required by law; and website analytics data for a limited period set in our analytics settings. We then delete or anonymize it.
10. Information Protection
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected online and offline, as applicable. Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as payment or tax details), that information is encrypted and securely transmitted. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser or “HTTPS” at the beginning of the web page’s address. While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees of the Company who need the information to perform a specific job (e.g., billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. In addition, the computers or servers where we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant data protection authorities as required by applicable law, including the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).
11. International Transfers
The Company is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you visit the website from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
12. Children
The website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please get in touch with us and we will delete it.
13. Customer Service
For customer service inquiries, customers may email or write us. Besides a client’s email address, we do not request that users submit personal information online for customer service inquiries. We may, however, ask for additional non-personal information to help us better respond to customer service questions. We use the client’s e-mail address to communicate directly with clients about service-related questions and to provide answers they and their clients may find helpful. We do not sell, transfer, or share a client’s e-mail address with third parties, except with the service providers described above, who use it solely to help us handle customer service and have agreed to keep it confidential. We keep these messages as described under Retention.
14. Website Terms & Conditions
This Privacy Policy constitutes an integrated part of the Company’s Terms of Use.
15. Acceptance
By using this site, you signify and assent to this Privacy Policy. Please do not use this website if you do not agree to the terms of this policy. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this policy at any time. Please check this page periodically for changes.
