Royalties and tax.

How payments reach you, what we need on file, and where to ask when something looks wrong.

How are royalties paid?

To the account on your payee record, once we hold a current tax form for you. Payee records are kept with Trolley, which sends our royalty payments. You can update yours at any time.

Why haven’t my royalties arrived?

Usually for one of two reasons. We don’t yet hold a current tax form for you, so no payment can be sent. Or a payment came back because your address or bank details changed. Updating your details resolves both.

Which tax form do I need?

A W-9 if you’re a U.S. person or company. Outside the U.S., a W-8BEN for an individual, or a W-8BEN-E for a company. When you update your details, the questions lead to the right form, and you sign it there.

When will my 1099 arrive?

We file 1099-MISC forms by the IRS deadline and mail them to the address on file. If yours hasn’t arrived by the end of January, ask the royalties team for a copy.

My 1099 shows the wrong name or address.

Update your details so future forms are correct, then tell the royalties team what changed, and we’ll correct the form already filed.

Where are my royalty statements?

Statements move into the Portal when it opens. Until then, ask the royalties team for any statement, including ones from earlier systems.

Something else about a payment?

Send the royalties team a note with the name you’re paid under, and what you’re looking for.
